We’re taking a year to live like locals in cities across North America.
Travel has been a major part of our lives since our first trip together five years ago. On every trip, we’ve asked ourselves, “What would it be like to live here?” So starting this summer, we’re going to find out.
The plan
The first leg of our journey will be a drive from Houston, Texas to Fennville, Michigan… for our wedding! We’ll take our time, spending about four days to make the drive. From there, it’s on to Montreal to take advantage of the summer festival season. Then, on to Philly, Pittsburgh, Columbus — that will take us through the end of 2018! Take a look at where we’ve been and where we’re going.
The logistics
We’re putting most of our stuff in storage and winnowing down our belongings to whatever will fit in the back of our Honda CR-V: some clothes, our computers, and the day-to-day essentials. We’ll be living in furnished apartments (think Airbnb, Homeaway, and corporate apartments) and working either from “home” or from coworking spaces. We are fortunate to both have jobs that allow us to work remotely and with schedules that are flexible enough that we can take advantage of this new nomadic lifestyle.
